The Others

Introduction and Ideas

Over the next five weeks we are working on a topic called 'The Others'. Our work that we create within this project, must relate to identity, culture, disability to promote equality and celebrate differece. I think i would like to go down the route of identity, as i have several ideas! One idea i have is to recreate old photographs into the present. These could include family photos, photos of pets or even photos of myself when i was younger. I was inspried by this idea, when i came across Booby Neel Adam's work called 'Age Maps'. Bobby has created these images by juxtaposing and merging portraits of the same individual together as a child and an adult. The point at which the images are physically torn together becomes the boundary line between decades of passing time. These photographs also suggests that much of our nature or who we are is established at a very early age, and that these character traits remain unwavering throughout our lives.
