Retouching Images On Photoshop
If you have ever looked at a model on the cover of a magazine, the chances are that they have been retouched and manipulated to some degree in Photoshop. I went onto the internet and looked for images that had been distored, before and after. I was so shocked as to what I saw and was astounded that photographers go to this much, to get the perfect photograph.

Layer Masking
Once we had looked at images that has been manipulated and retouched. We had a lecture, showing us how to use layer masking. I started off by using the spot removal tool, which hides blemishes, spots and dustmarks. I increased the clarity of the image as it created a sharper, more defined image. I opened up my image in Photoshop as a smart object and i then created a layer called 'Sharp'. Although, i then duplicated the layer and named it 'Soft'. Once duplicated, i went to 'Layer', 'Rastersize'. I then double clicked on the soft layer making sure i was about to edit the correct layer and i went back into camer raw. As i wanted this layer to look soft, i decreased the clarity. Once i was happy with what i had done, i then re-opened the image back up in Photoshop, I went into 'Layer', 'Mask' and then 'Reveal All'. I clicked on the layer mask, took the paint brush, making sure i zoomed in, so i could see what i was doing in more detail. I made sure my brush had soft edges and i had my hardness on about 25%, as i did not want my editing to be noticable, but look natural.
