When planning my photo shoot for this project there were many things I had to consider. Firstly my idea and concept. My concept is 'revisiting fairytales through adult eyes'. From this concept, i chose to work with the well know fairytale, Litte Red Riding Hood. I want people to look at my work and see a mature, glamorous, grown up Red Riding Hood. I wanted to blend modern and natural elements that work seamlessly together, in order to create my own version of Red Riding Hood.
Location
I knew as soon as I had ideas on what I wanted to shoot, that I wanted to shoot in a rural area, recreating Little Red Riding Hood. Somewhere that would be quiet, with very little people around. I chose to shoot in Shaugh Prior, where the River Plym runs right through. Shaugh Prior is a gorgeous rural village, on the South-Western side of Dartmoor. I decided that I wanted to shoot on a cloudy, overcast day as I felt it would create more of dramatic mood. I wanted detailed shadows and highlights that have beautiful tones, rather than glaring hot spots. The clouds took the bright light source and diffused it, so there was not any direct light falling on anything in the scene. I felt it created a soft, even light that flattered my model.
Equipment
When planning what equipment I would need to take on my shoot, I knew I would need to use a tripod, in order to capture the sharpest images possible, otherwise I would risk capturing some blurred images, from my hands slightly moving. I am planning on taking a reflector with me and possibly some LED battery lighting, which will just help to brighten my model and create some stronger highlights.
