What Skills Do I Have WithinThe Course?
Today, the class was split in half. My half of the group were discussing what skills we all have and what skills we feel that could be improved. I thought to myself for a couple of minutes, i thought about how much i have learnt since starting the course in September. I have gone from never using a studio, creating my own backdrops at home, to having three amazing studios on offer to me. I have already improved so much in just a couple of months.
When it came to skills which i feel confident with, analysing and writing about my work would go at the top. I feel very confident writing about my work, explainning what inspired me and what i was trying to portay within my photographs. I feel this has been a huge help, when writing on my blog and it has probably even improved since starting my blog in September! I also feel quite confident when researching, that could be artists, photographers, inspiration or ideas. I always research more than one photographer/idea, as i feel the more ideas and information you have the better and it is always good to have a back up plan!
However, when it came to skills which could be improved, i could think of quite a few! But then, i had to tell myself that i am bound to have things which need improving, as i have only been on the course for three months and the whole idea of this course, is that i will improve and become a better photographer with time.
I wrote a short list of what i felt i could improve, they included lighting, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and depth of field. All of which have been covered since September, but only briefly. We then paired up with people that were confident with something that we were not so confident with. I paired up with Yasmin, who was extremely confident when talking about aperture and shutter speed. Yasmin, told me what she knew about them and i wrote some notes down, to help me in the future.I thought this was a great way of learning, by using other people, some who have not spoke to since starting the course, so it was also a good way to get to know people abit better.
