Social Media

This week we were split up into four groups. Those groups were Flickr, Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook. We were told we had to create a profile within those sites, promoting our work as a class. I was in the Flickr group, at first I felt abit hesitant and out of my comfort zone, due to the fact I had never used Flickr, I did not even know exactly what it was at first! I was hoping to be in the Instagram or Facebook group, purely because I feel confident with using both. However, after getting together with my group and having people within the group that had used Flickr before, they quickly explainned and showed me how it is used and soon enough I felt reassured. Once I got into Flickr, I was actually rather pleased I was put in a group, where I did not have any experience in, because it means now I know how to understand the social media site, which I can now use to show my work. I thought working in groups was a great thing to do, it gets us out of our comfort zone, working with people we perhaps would not think to pair up with and team work is vital on this course.

Aswell as creating a profile as a group, we had to create an individual social media platform. I chose Facebook, something I feel confident using. I know Facebook is a great way to advertise yourself and for people to find out about you. Once creating my page and adding a couple of photographs, I invited my friends to like my page, aswell as asking a few of my close friends to share my page. I will use this page regularly, to display my work, showing my work from both inside and outside of college.
